The OhioMeansJobs Center offers a wide variety of career services at no charge. Career Advisors are equipped with a variety of resources that will enable you to explore your career interests and abilities. Career Advisors can guide and provide you with the tools you need to research the labor market of potential careers.

Through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act 2014 (WIOA) the goal of the OhioMeansJobs Center staff is to assist you with overcoming barriers and obtaining employment training in order to find gainful employment. We will listen to your interests and goals to provide guidance as to what steps can be taken to meet your occupational goals. During the WIOA orientation session you can expect to see an overview of the services and requirements.

For those interested in pursuing a high school equivalency, or GED, a facilitator is available through the Aspire Program, located on the 3rd floor within the OhioMeansJobs Center.  New student orientations are conducted by appointment only, during which time prospective students will complete assessments in Reading, Language, and Math.  Once the results are reviewed the prospective student would complete paperwork to begin the enrollment process.

Fairfield County OhioMeansJobs Center offers a variety of services to all of those that served in the military. All military veterans are given priority of service in referrals to job openings and other services. Trained professionals are available to offer a variety of services such as job placement, referrals to supportive community service agencies, assistance with overcoming barriers and career guidance services to include transition of your military service to civilian careers. Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the State of Ohio agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. OOD provides counseling and guidance to individuals with disabilities who are seeking employment to jointly choose an employment goal based on strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, capabilities and interests.

RESEA is a federal program which provides reemployment services to help customers find their next, better job. Customers receive information on a wide array of resources to meet their individual reemployment needs. Not everyone receiving unemployment benefits can participate in the program, claimants must be selected to participate based on information provided on their application for unemployment benefits.

As part of the program, claimants will meet one on one with an advisor to complete an assessment and assist in the development of an individualized reemployment plan to help meet their goal of getting back to work. In addition, they will also:

• Register with ohiomeansjobs.com
• Receive labor market and career information for the type of work they’re looking for
• Discuss job applications submitted in the past few weeks.
• Discuss potential barriers to employment
• Complete a resume and/or other required Unemployment activities
• Receive an orientation for the services available in the OhioMeansJobs Centers and on ohiomeansjobs.com
• Receive referral information for training services that we can assist in providing funding for such as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act program which we refer to as WIOA.

Fairfield County has one program delivery staff that serves all 5 counties in Area 20 including: Fairfield, Hocking, Pickaway, Vinton, and Ross.

The RESEA program is designed to provide an early intervention approach for providing dislocated workers with reemployment services to expedite their return to employment. The program has four distinct purposes:

1. Reduce unemployment insurance duration through improved employment outcomes
2. Strengthen unemployment insurance program integrity
3. Promote alignment with the vision of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
4. Establish RESEA as an entry point to other workforce system partners

The software is user friendly and allows you to format and customize a resume that will highlight your skills, abilities, and experience. The Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP) provides high quality services for youth and young adults, ages 16 – 24. Eligible youth can access a variety of career and educational services through WIOA funded programs. These services are designed to help enhance job skills, develop leadership qualities, explore career options, and take advantage of work experiences. The CCMEP focuses on offering eligible participants access to components that will successfully connect them to education and/or in-demand industries’ occupations.

CCMEP focuses on out-of-school participants to include youth who have dropped out of school, youth looking to enroll in GED programs, and high school graduates not currently employed or enrolled in post-secondary education. Contact the CCMEP Career Advisor at 740-652-7643 to schedule an appointment.
